THE DIVINE CREATIVE

I’ve referred to myself in the past as a divine creative.

For me, quite innately, there is a communion between divinity + creativity. I use the word divinity because I experience it as a connection to energy; and when we create, I believe we connect quite purely to that same source.

Writing has always been my greatest love, yet creativity moves through so many aspects of my life. Travel. Décor. The spaces I inhabit. One of my most treasured experiences is walking into a blank room — a blank canvas — and making it mine, whether it is a temporary abode for a few days or somewhere I will inhabit for months.

I don’t need my creativity to fit into one sphere.

There is freedom in allowing ourselves to be multidimensional; to follow our curiosities, change form, gather new skills + allow one creative expression to lead rather beautifully into another.

And there is something even greater available within the act of creating.

We live in a world of myriad theologies, religions + humanist philosophies, often emerging alongside one another, contradicting one another and, at times, creating division. Yet creativity offers us an extraordinarily simple way of communing with something beyond ourselves without needing to define precisely what that something is.

We each hold the capacity to create.

Honouring that creativity within us may be one of the simplest expressions of divinity; taking what exists internally — an idea, an instinct, an imagining — and allowing it to become something beautiful in the world.

This is the way I live my life; as an evolving body of work.
